Resurrected Styled Shoot

Did you know that I have a vintage booth and sell vintage clothes? 32 Ferns has been my side hustle and retail therapy for some time now. You can find my booth at Redeux Vintage in downtown York, PA. In my hunt to find vintage charm I came across one of these dresses, which inspired this entire shoot. Clothing, accessories and household items can be a great resource for challenging your creativity, but sometimes we need to dig a little deeper than surface items. These dresses may have inspired the shoot, but the feeling and imagery come from a time past. I find something peaceful and beautiful about my past and our history in general. Fact: Weddings were not always based on love, but based on commodity. All women needed was someone to care and provide for their families, love was all but secondary.

Maridalia + Steven | the Green Building Wedding, Brooklyn NY

The wedding of Maridalia (Mari) and Steven was something to be remembered, especially the ceremony! Had I have known what I am about to tell you, I would have viewed the ceremony in a different light. However, it didn’t change the fact that we enjoyed the following:

  • Belting out KC & JoJo - All My Life during bridal party photos

  • Watching a standing ovation and dance party during the grooms entrance into the ceremony

  • Tediously took photos in the rain

  • Witnessed the longest dancing train during a reception

Every wedding is unique and offers something that’s different from the next, whether it’s what the guests bring to the table, the outfits, the family traditions, the music, experiences, or simply the feeling. Mari and Steven kept their details simple, and I now know why. Their family and friends brought an experience to their wedding at The Green Building to level that would have outshined any crazy centerpiece, or styled lounge—it’s was so uniquely them and certainly a wedding I wont forget.

Scroll to find out the most memorable part.

Maridalia and Steven were able to share their very first kiss for their wedding day.

Kelsie + Chase | Historic Shady Lane Wedding

This elegant, but casual and fun, bohemian wedding was really about the people and the personalized details that are sooooo Kelsie and Chase. Despite the fact that everything was so thought out and so beautiful I was drawn to the guests, their love for the couple and how everyone just felt like one big giant happy family.

Bri + Chad | Moonstone Manor Wedding

Moonstone Manor Wedding

"Cambria is AMAZING!!! She photographed my wedding Saturday September 2nd 2017 at Moonstone Manor in Elizabethtown, PA. My husband wanted someone he felt comfortable with that would understand our vision without forcing there style on us. Cambria was perfect! She turned our rainy day into one we will never forget. She was able to capture everything we talked about and even mores we didn’t. Our guest gave great feed back on how “down to earth” she is. We truly are thankful for everything she did for us not only on that day, or the engagement session, but everyday in between. Cambria truly has a gift and we were honored to have her photograph us."

Tell me about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme or style? Any traditions?
We got married at a beautiful Mansion “Moonstone Manor” in Elizabethtown, PA. It was a small wedding with our closest friends and family. We wanted a gatsby theme but without the costumes. Elegant but simple. We wanted it to feel welcoming and fun for guests.

What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding day?
We did a first a first look. It was my favorite part. Unrehearsed raw emotion. I was fine the whole day, happy, excited, all smiles, but when I opened the door to walk out to my future husband emotions took over and I was nervous, I started crying shaking and smiling all at once. The fact that I knew my future husband was about to see me for the first time was the best overwhelming feeling I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the adventure of taking pictures let’s just say slippery rocks and a wedding gown/suit don’t go well with water. But it makes for one heck of a picture!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
Chad and I met at a local bar in York, PA on Christmas Day. Safe to say he was my best gift ever. We dated for 3 years before he asked me to marry him. We are very adventurous people we love to hike be on the river or go on vacation. Chad took me to me Pole Steeple on my birthday (in February) which is a hiking spot. Weird I thought why are we going hiking when there’s snow on the ground. But that’s where he asked me at the top of a cliff over looking a pond. It was very romantic.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
Make it fun! Don’t spend money on anything you can do yourself. Invitations are nice but they end up in the trash. Spend money on photography, food and the DJ. The rest will work itself out. And don’t look at the weather! It’s your day try to remember that, make it how you and your fiancé talked about it.

Molly + Matt | Springton Manor Farm Wedding

Molly + Matt | Springton Manor Farm Wedding

Molly and Matt are the perfect artsy scientist couple (literally a scientist), which makes me love them even more, so when Matt shared these words during the ceremony, I was completely in tears alongside Molly. I can only imagine how she must have felt hearing these words:

Lost somewhere between immensity and eternity is a tiny blue dot that we humans call home. And yet our species is young and curious and brave and shows much promise. In the last few millennia we have made the most astonishing and unexpected discoveries. We are constantly reminded that humans have evolved to wonder, that understanding is a joy, that knowledge is a prerequisite to survival. Our little planet floats like a mote of dust in the morning sky. All that you see, all that we can see, exploded out of a star billions of years ago, and the particles slowly arranged themselves into living things, including all of us. We are made of star stuff. We are the mechanism by which the universe can comprehend itself.

The world is so exquisite with so much love and moral depth. We should remain grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides. The sum of all our evolution, our thinking and our accomplishments is love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with the person you love for an hour and it seems like a minute. That's relativity. A marriage makes two fractional lives a whole. It gives to two questioning natures a renewed reason for living. It brings a new gladness to the sunshine, a new fragrance to the flowers, a new beauty to the earth, and a new mystery to life.
